UPAC Plans Series of Community Events Highlighting 30th Anniversary
(May 5, 2017 Chicago, IL) We will commemorate our 30th Anniversary with a series of three events beginning with a community speaking engagement in late May and culminating in a community celebration on June 16th. A presentation at the West Logan Square / Avondale Block Club meeting on Thursday, May 25th at St. Nicolai Church, 3000 N Kedzie at 7 PM. UPAC co-founder Joel Monarch will talk about the genesis & history of the organization and current UPAC Director of Development Robert Castillo will talk about UPAC's upcoming 2017 Events.
There will also be a small display of UPAC memorabilia through the years.
A window display at local business, Monarch Thrift Shop, located at 2866 N Milwaukee. The display will honor UPAC's 30TH Anniversary and be up from Weds. June 7 thru Friday, June 16th. There will be an unveiling of the display for the community on Wednesday, June 7th before the monthly UPAC meeting. More details TBA.
The grand finale will be the official UPAC 30th Anniversary Celebration which will take place on Friday, June 16th at Hairpin Arts Center, 2810 N Milwaukee, 2nd fl. From 7-8 PM, there will be a Council Reception for former & current UPAC members. It will be followed by The Community Party which kicks off at 8pm and runs until 10pm featuring music by DJ OCD.
Both the Reception & Community Party are for persons 21+. Former UPAC Council members should RSVP for the Council Reception to: info@unityparkchicago.org and guests will be able to register for the Community Party using Eventbrite beginning May 16th.
The 30th Anniversary Celebration is free but donations for UPAC's upcoming ART in the Park on Saturday, July 16th will be accepted.
