Following the smashing success of the first edition of SnailedIt!, UPAC and SmailedIt! Farms are excited to present the 2nd World Cup of Snail Racing at Unity Park. Six to ten galloping gastropods, each with their own unique characteristics that helped propel them to the highest levels of snail racing, will descend upon Unity Park to compete for the illustrious title of Fastest Snail Alive. The event features multiple styles of racing (speed, rally, and obstacle), along with games, music, raffles, prizes, and additional snail- focused entertainment to create what will surely be a memorable experience for the whole family.

UPAC and AnySquared will be hosting our 16th annual Art in the Park! Our theme this year is Soaring and Discovering

Join us as we will explore our community park, make all kinds of art, and share with our neighbors! Design on a kite and fly great heights this summer! Select a canvas, pick the perfect brush and select your favorite colors to paint with family and friends. Make a Wire Sculpture! Enjoy the Craft Corner and Creative Function Junction! Fun for families at Unity Park’s annual open air art studio!

Thursday July 11 6 - 8 PM at Unity Park

Elastic Arts', Power of The Word, centers the power of the arts to amplify the voices of artists and community members to oppose injustice, to support healing, and to imagine positive futures. This program features Live Afro Puerto Rican Bomba by Bomberxs D’ Cora of La Escuelita Bombera De Corazón! This group features dynamic Afro-Puerto Rican Dancer, Musician, and Educator Ivelisse Diaz. They will be joined on the bill by Logan Square-raised poet Luis Tubens, a.k.a “Logan Lu.”

Join us for Family Bowl at Avondale Bowl, a UPAC mid-year Fundraiser (discuss on the Facebook page).

There will be pin decorating, coloring pages, and of course, bowling!

[ Bowling is $30 and $4 for shoe rental. Book reservations at Avondale Bowl. ] 

$15 suggested donation for pin decorating! You can donate online or in-person.

Thursday 6 - 7 PM on the north lawn of Unity Park

UPAC and Porchlight Music Theatre announce the return of the free summer concert, Broadway in your Backyard, as part of Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks series, supported by the Mayor’s Office and Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and Free for All, Comcast and Xfinity.

Broadway in your Backyard is directed by Frankie Leo Bennett and music directed by Linda Madonia. This 60-minute concert includes Chicago performers singing favorite songs and hidden gems from the Broadway canon. Broadway in your Backyard is suitable for all ages and audiences are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to enjoy the outdoor concerts. For more information go to PorchlightMusicTheatre.

Large Mouth are three young men from Chicago who've evolved into becoming a progressive grunge punk band all with the ability to grasp new musical genres with ease and comfort. Seeing Large Mouth perform undoubtedly confirms their ability to connect with old rockers, young rockers and everyone in between. Largemouth and Frenz, Saturday 4-8 PM at UnityAnd their friends are no less accomplished!

FullAuto is a hardcore punk duo brothers out of Bloomington.

White Orchid is an established emo punk band.

Feral Faucet is a power punk band.

Large Mouth is a grunge band.

And they're all coming to Unity!
