Our 2019 Calendar Is Here!

UPAC has been hard at work preparing for our 2019 season! We recently elected a brand new board and the Council has selected dates for most of our events. Remember though, UPAC is an all-volunteer group, and we couldn't do it without your help and support. Email us at Info@UnityParkChicago.org to come help out, or ping us on the Facebook page!

All events at Unity Park are free for our neighbors because of the support of people like you! And you can support UPAC and enjoy a night of partying by coming to Party for the Park!

This year, Party for the Park will be on Thursday, December 6th at Weegee's Lounge, 3659 W Armitage. The music starts cranking at 7 PM! Tickets are available with a $20 donation and include 1 raffle ticket and 1 drink. The Great Pumpkin Returns This Saturday!

Our annual fall classic, Pumpkinfest, is this Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10 AM - 2 PM at Unity Park!

Pumkinfest is Saturday 10/20/2018 10 AM - 2 PM
Roam the pumpkin patch with your kids and enjoy face-painting, pumpkin-decorating, music, costume parade... and snap a pic at our Pumpkinfest photo station. Oh, and popcorn too! And it's all free!

Remember, pumpkins and decorating supplies are limited, so don't delay, act now and get your costumes together! The costume parade starts at noon!

On the weekend of October 6-7, the big tent returns to Kosciuszko Park. Click on the image to get your tickets before they sell out! After all the fun that we had last year, we had to bring the circus back! Midnight Circus is presented again by co-hosts Unity and Kosciuszko Park Advisory Council! Part of the proceeds from the circus will go to replace the spray pool at Unity with a modern soft-surfaced pool.

Wonder tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters 5th grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.

You saw the preview at Art in the Park, now come with your children for the full immersive experience!

Joyful Passage 2018 is a fun, unique take on a traditional obstacle course, with strangers and neighbors working together to solve abstract problems. Featuring beautiful interactive sculptures and live musical accompaniment, along with Opera-Matic's usual event elements, including takeaway crafts, shadow puppetry, and other participatory, all-ages activities.

Rolling Rec - One More Week!

Rolling Rec van
The Rollin' Recreation activity van offers fun for the whole family at a number of parks throughout the city. The vans drive in, and the fun rolls out - sports, gymnastics and fitness activities. Come join us and enjoy these activities with others in your community. No registration required, just come out and have fun.

This year, Art in the Park, conceptualized by Amie Sell, celebrates the Special Olympics and the World Cup with these fun activities,
  • flag-making - pick your favorite country flag - whether or not they're still in the World Cup!
  • rainbow community mural - get creative with paint and hand-prints, guided by Gerry Holday!
  • make and pose with chalk drawings of Olympics events!
  • mini-skateboards - ya just hafta see these!
  • Victor Montanez spinning the tunes with his band
  • Tracy Kostenbader, Luis and the rest of the gang from Anysquared
  • local artists, and most importantly, you! 
Make sure the kids have on their painting shirts!

Gustavo Cortinas Roots Ensemble

Thursday, August 2, 5pm – 7pm

Drummer and composer Gustavo Cortiñas takes us on a musical journey that will dive into the depth of contrasting Latin American traditions. We'll explore the sounds and rhythms of Latin America, from the Northern Huapango of Mexico, down to southern Zamba of Argentina.

Spring Volleyball Program 2018

(5/1/2018 Chicago, IL)   The Unity Park Advisory Coucil is excited to be introducing a volleyball program at Unity Park. We're starting off with 3rd and 4th graders, but if we get a good response, we will introduce programs for older kids over the summer. This program is being offered in collaboration with our friends,

Spring volleyball at Unity Park for 3rd and 4th graders!
  • Logan Square Boys and Girls Club of Chicago
  • James Monroe Elementary School
  • Chicago Park District
The program will have instruction and match play, and is run by qualified instructors from the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago. Water and snacks will be provided. 

To enroll your 3rd or 4th grade kid, please come to the park, by the club-house, at 11:40 AM next Saturday, 5/12/2018. And email us at Info@UnityParkChicago.org, or let us know on our Facebook page that you're coming!
